Clockwork flow

He begs for video games, specifically No Man’s Sky, which makes me nauseated to watch and totally in awe that he understands even half of what’s happening, the whole of his mission and how to achieve it. With its complexity and also weird simplicity, I don’t mind the game itself, just the general reality, the hijack of his little brain, so yeah, there’s a limit, and when he hits it, he’s bored. He is so bored! Everything is boring, including my insistence,

Good things happen when you’re bored.
When your mind is free to wander
bound to wonder
listen to birds and barks
build habitats for caterpillars
freckle your skin with dirt
and spark your spirit with What If.

He hates it. Resists it. Then, like clockwork, is swept away by flow.

“Mama. I made a robot.”

I pause whatever dumb work thing I’m doing and watch his electric toothbrush spin.
