deepsicks? meet mozilla!

Laundry hanging on the line, all of it is black.

My Internet Explorer has been hijacked by some crap bogus-link search engine that continually changes my homepage. I’ve tried the virus software and ad-aware scans, the search-and-destroy bots, shredders and manual key registry adjustments. Nothing works—nothing.

So instead of fighting the damn thing, I downloaded the open-source browser Mozilla. I’m getting the hang of it. I like it. It has neat features. It doesn’t crash, and tabbed browsing is pure genius. But deepsicks, on the other hand… looked like hell. So maybe deepsicks coding isn’t all that keen because I’m a total hack. We get by. …Or so I thought. If IE is the mamsy freshman comp teacher, Mozilla is the 8xxx level professor ready to make cerebral incisions and unveil to all the shortcomings of the ignorant. Observe:

Deepsicks: Hi. Um… I don’t know much about stuff, but I try real hard. So I was like, um. I stole some code this one time and just made it do the things I wanted it to do and I pasted it everywhere I needed it and things look cool ’cause it’s like math, right? It’s like logic and WYSIWYG… right?

Internet Explorer: (Examines source) What I think deepsicks is trying to say is sometimes html conflicts with scripts, especially when you’re not really sure what you’re doing, and that’s okay. We’re all students here, and we’re all teachers, too. What I notice is a clearly improper though well-intentioned and intuitive combination, a fusion of unlike elements. But what I wanted to say is diversity is essential and makes for well-roundedness and cohesion. Deepsicks seems to be trying to attempt to bridge gaps and cross borders. I know what she’s talking about when she tries to right align the dropdown navigation menu. So that’s what I’m going to show.

Mozilla: (Examines source) Yeah, nice try.

Deepsicks: Uh…

Mozilla: And not surprisingly it’s the power structure firmly in place that assuages, consoles, gives the illusion of control and attaches meaning to unintelligent drivel.

Deepsicks: 🙁

Mozilla: *Whomp* 0nw3d!!!

So. I’ve been working on adjusting the out-of-whackness-with-Mozilla with all pages (after learning how to do it, that is). Yes, my scripts and codes still and will forever suck, but with hope users will now have a uniform and eye-pleasing deepsicks experience. Yay.

A couple weeks ago I saw Avenged Sevenfold at the Triple Rock. I first heard of, heard and saw this band last summer at Warped, and they knocked me flat-confused. I pretended for months they were only an anomaly, a guilty pleasure and passing fancy, but nope—I really like this band.

Their energy is killer and catchy and fun; combined with comicbook evil and hey—talent—they’ve proven their worth and earned a wide slot in my music rotation. The show was particularly nice because I hadn’t, er, done that sort of thing in awhile—gone to a show and got sin-cerely crazy. I leapt spun shoved and earned the grim respect of hardcore dancers (oh dear god, please don’t murder me!!!). I even head-banged.

In other news, there is no other news. Been sick lately: headachy, fatigued and nauseated for no reason. Been working through mild schizophrenia and other strains of personal incongruity. << WYSInotWYG >> And such. Yeah. Fake has a couple shows coming up in Fargo—info on that soon.

Oh, and about the new header (hee)—those are Anna’s clothes, not mine 😉 Laundry hanging outside makes me happy. Praise the changing weather, the settling spring and summer on heels. And happy thoughts to the Christians (the ones who aren’t wacko—I know you exist) celebrating the resurrection of their zombie lord. I like zombies, too.

it’s either zombie lord or zombie savior, which is also cool.

    ahem. Undead.

shown one night only during the Minneapolis/Saint Paul International film festival, the Austrailian conceived Undead did not disappoint. heralded as a low-budget flick, it was anything but. holy alien space craft and crazy flopping c.g. zombies! it was your classic zombie horror with a sci fi twist and the ingenuity of the occasional flesh-burning acid rain which forced the cast to periodically remove all their clothing. brilliant! and how about those matrix manuevers and the zombie fish? that’s right, zombie fish! ahhhhh!

one of my favorite moments was when they took out the whole horde that got into the house. just as they finished off the last one (the sleezy talent agent guy, presumably the “father” of this particular troop), all the “dead” zombies resurrected and stood up at a breakneck freaky speed, rabid for more flesheating action. awesome.

i didn’t quite get the “chosen one” deal with the aliens (when the acid rain healed the cut on the girl’s head), and what exactly they were doing when possessing people then sending them hurtling into the sky and suspending them all christlike. were they feeding off them? experimenting? was this just for jives? no matter. Undead gets a huge thumbs up.

thursday night i saw “Pirated Copy,” which was also part of the Festival. my brother and i were under the impression it was a documentary on the pirated DVD industry in Beijing. ha—try ill-conceived pretentious student film piece of trash. it was horrible. terrible. pathetic. offensive. plotless, directionless, boring, trite and painful. if ever you come across it, run. run very fast.

I’ve never really thought of Jesus as a zombie lord, but that’s totally what he is! I will definitely bring this up at dinner tomorrow.

The aliens were healing people who had been afflicted by the falling meteorites (which were the cause for the zombification). They were suspending people so they didn’t get their brains ripped out of their head by the uncured.

And as for the “chosen” stuff – well, she was never turned into a zombie, right? And at the end, she found a job to do – zombie herding, so Miss Catch of the Day finally had her farm and a purpose. Huzzah!

whoaaaaaa, what movie did you see? (or which did i?) i thought the aliens and the meteorites were connected, as in, the aliens purposely made them crash to Australia and zombify the locals. ….yet… the aliens seemed intriguing on the maybe-not-completely-evil side (albeit ghoulish). i was upset when that one group was slaughtered. but i still have a hard time believing the insatiable lust for brains wasn’t the fault of the aliens. so a meteorite slams to earth and whoa, instantly there’s aliens there to take care of it? (i’m thinking of marion’s flashback—he was beamed up to the ship, too, not sky-strung).

i’d like to see it again. 😀 and dawn of the dead, too (dammit, i’m turning into one of *those* people. and by those people, i mean a zombie who consumes the same thing compulsively….ughghghghg… mindless yet so tasty entertainment… at Block E no less.

I got the feeling that the meteorites were accidents from the aliens. Like, whoops, some meteorites escaped, and shit! They’re zombifying part of Australia! Dispatch a team to go clean that shit up.

My friend Adrianne is going to have a zombie party. You must come.

    !!!
that would be stellar, and by stellar i mean how cool it’d be if starlike meteorites crashed to earth and made us all zombies for real.

damn straight sir/madam Anonymous! i was dissapointed with the video for Unholy Confessions, though. it’s cool how fan-centered they seem to be/are presented as/are in reality, but the video was just… uninspiring. nothing i felt compelled to watch more than once. *shrugs*

Its madam, i’ve listened to them since they were signed on to hopeless and their seventh trumpet album was rereleased. Ever listened to Break the silence? their label mates. I got to see them recently and the guitarist was wearing an avenged sevenfold shirt i thought that was rather cute.
