yesterday’s future

Tree with heavy snow on it with text, happy your favorite things, holidays and dreams. love, deepsicks

Happy Solstice and otherwise Holledays aka Annual Gift Giving and Family Time. I get a big five days in Fargo. Should be wonderful and much too quick.

After months of trial-and-error total failure, I’ve finally found an easy-to-use and cool-looking comment feature from haloscan to add to the news items, taking my rants and shouts-outs to a whole new level—the realm of the blog.

First of all, lemme say I hate blogs. I hate the word. I hate the buzz. I hate the so-called phenomenon and all those punks who get book deals out of them, and long before Mark sent me that link (just recently) and encouraged me to get my own blog (months ago).

My friend Bree, a livejournal junkie (shut up, you are), went so far as to set me up a livejournal account and email me my username and password. Her motive was to spread the d6 link for Google love (and Google finally owns me, and I like it), but I have my doubts. I think my friends are trying to make me more of a nerd than I already am.

Blogs reek of excess I don’t have time for and intrigue I don’t want to share. But it’s probably a good move, “the future” which was yesterday’s news now today, making me feel a little more comfortable sliding in now that everyone’s bored with it. If nothing else, I can get some feedback. See if people are actually paying attention then cry when no one comments. Sound good? Let’s go. Gengar the Pokéman is going to help me.

Dearest daughter Megan Marie Ellis Morgan Holle,

What have I told thee about publishing? Enabling others to publish only bathes ye further in sin. I hath published the Bible (the title means “Book”). No other books need be published; mine is the greatest. Repent and ye shall be saved.

    Sincerely,

Jesus Christ, Son of God, Begotten of the Saviour, Amen.

and here i am, getting all ready to celebrate your birthday. “your” Book is a dead text if read but not discussed (questioned, critiqued, affirmed, denied). so there, and so here.

in my family the “big kids” prepare christmas eve dinner. i hope you like fajitas, JC!

    love,
    megh

“your d6 index page is a blog.”

1). it is now? don’t i know it.
    or
2). it always has been? …yeah, true, but when I think “blog,” i think interactive with commenting dodads. it’s like i’m just admitting it now, with maybe kinda sorta plans to upkeep more vigoriously.

by the by, grindthieves is coming along nicely. i do plan to link as soon as you have more in place. do you have an official opening/doneness date?

i have to say your index page is both 1) and 2). to me, anyhow, its seemed such. but, perhaps i dont really know _exactly_ what a blog is.

ive also got a live journal. if you, or anyone, cares (or doesnt). username is artbeaker. yippie. im addicted. mostly because it gives me some one/thing to talk to and rant at while at work in the middle of the night and theres not one to call, no one to e.mail, no one to instant message, and no decent boards to post on.

and, yes. grindthieves.com is fresh for 2004, baby. all music ive produced will be available for download, all of my sample library will be up and available for download, all info as far as future shows will be available, photos from past shows and general grindthievery, and a decent sampling of my artistic endevours will be available for sampling. im considering hosting some music from friends of mine, as well. and whatever else i can manag to round up.

    ive said too much.

uh-oh, it’s a haloscan “basic account”… how long until the banner ads infect and infest this page…..,.,.,.,.,.,.,.

and, for the rckrd, dckr, it’s not a blog, by definition- this page contains “content” of which blogs are free.

the liberation of the blog from “content” allowed the blogging revolution- now anyone can blog, in great quantity, about nothing at all. cats, meaningless relationships, car troubles, bladder infections and other tripe have been archived forever on the net for future historians to scan and be annoyed with. the 21st century will largely be remembered as a lot of whining, and a lot of using new technology to accelerate our descent back into the stone age. it won’t be long and we’ll all be typing with our knuckles. amen.

Jesus Christ, Son of God, Begotten of the Saviour, Amen.

    dearest jesus.

i stand corrected. i forgot, there is a bit of somethings for everyone here to enjoy. whereas blogs are a bunch of nothings for nobodies to enjoy. thank you for pointing out what i overlooked.

now i lay me down to sleep, of i dont wake please dont weep.

    amen.

there *better* not be any ads soon amok… i don’t think it’ll be a problem. i do know there’s a character limit of 1000 per entry. some other junk, too. but the “premier” account is only ten dollars. i have ten dollars. i might give them ten dollars anyway. we’ll see.

as for the blogness of this, and the precise definition thereof… eh. whatever. and hey jesus, isn’t slashdot.com one, big blog? how can you say that’s content free (completely, at least)? i know your addictions, frie(n)d. heh.

but yes. blog as information exchange/friend catcher-upper = good. blog as diary(-a of the mouth, ‘specially the gossipy whiny kind), i’ve better things to do, i swear.

my time in fargo was grand and short, work sucks, and i bought two plants. their names are Marco Pauly James Holle and LeRoy. BOW DOWN.

    dckr–www.grindthieves.com is lookin good!

    nic–hi!

    bree–grrr!

far as clogs go, i am the lord and saviour of you all and i can make jokes.

more importantly, just because they’re content-free doesn’t mean i won’t visit ’em… cotton candy (as well as the holy host) are content free but i still eat them!

oftentimes the forums on blogs are at least as good as reality tv for laughs.

i do find it funny how technology is used in the most backward way possible; why is there a “folder” on my desktop, why do i type instead of talk (IM), and why the fuck is a paperclip talking to me? Even worse, why did it take until the year 2003 for it to be easy for people to PUBLISH TEXT on the internet? especially drivel?

FYI megh, your ten dollars is best donated to my church.

    amen, bless you.
