first halloween

It’s Llama Llama Red Pajama aka L’s First Halloween!

I used to fantasize about all the clever costumes I could foist upon my kid. These first couple of years are precious — I’m the mom, so I decide for him. Once he starts talking, expressing What He Wants to Be, well, what kind of jerk wouldn’t listen?

I wanted to be a Labyrinth Bowie with a Baby Toby but god that seemed like a lot of work, especially with nowhere to go. Then I realized I want nothing more than to know what he would say if he could. Kid probably wants to be a coffee can, or a blueberry. Daniel Tiger is another prime contender, but he might actually say that next year. I want to model new ideas and novel identities each Halloween.

So Baby Llama it is! It’s one of his favorites — we read it almost every night. The stuffie is a recent addition that L loses his mind over as I act out the antics and drama, doling out kisses as Mama Llama to him and his new friend.

This kid is so ready for live theater.
