Winter beauty deep-cut I’ve been away from the north long enough to forget: The way the sun reflects the light off all that brilliant white and blasts it through the few windows we don’t have shrouded in blankets and towels. Our internet is out but we still have power. Hang in there, friends!

Folks are asking me, so uh now what? I grew up in the north, but I have never seen anything like this — the unrelenting ice nor failing infrastructure. Feeling hopeless and survivor guilty with our power still intact, conserving what we can and thinking of our neighbors. Now pardon me while I try to barter oranges for milk for our babykid.

Yes, there’s mandatory water conservation, and yes, we have to boil that water so amoebae don’t eat our brains.
