Rainy Drought

The sky does fun things here. No more than Minneapolis or Vancouver, and I know it’s not true everything here is bigger, but I’d buy more ostentatious—more selective.

The City of Austin doesn’t have tornado sirens. Instead our phones blow up at godawful o’clock with perpetual flash flood warnings and looming coffins.

Squalls. Lots of them.

These past few months the earth has sipped its fill, saturated to bursting. But we’re still in a drought, still overspilling. When me and Mudcat ventured out to Adventure Alley, I turned around and didn’t drown my dog.

She’s a weirdo and only likes water she can lick.
