Wormwood celebrated the release of their first CD, Meiosis, at the Star Bar in Columbia Heights, MN, January 5, 2005. Revelers were first pummeled with a set of nonalbum songs, including a cover of Tool's The Patient, which all agreed was hubris of the most unforgivable kind but done so masterfully we didn't care. Having successfully removed the pants of everyone in the audience, the band left the stage for a short intermission amidst much crying and swooning ala religious revival. Wormwood then played the album straight through. It ruled. In addition to being the CD release show, it served as temporary farewell show to frontman Kellen, who is studying Spanish and children's literature in Venezuela for the spring semester—temporary, provided, he does not die.
